– About me –
You’re here and that means you have some wild in you. Or, at least you like a little bit of wild when you go places.
I’ve sought the wild in places since I was 26 and cruised down the Zaire River in what is now the DMC (Democratic Republic of Congo) in Central Africa.
A 16 foot live—and tightly bound—crocodile was in the aisle outside my cabin door. I prefer to see my wildlife roaming free and unbound, but that wild trip—on what was akin to a marketplace floating down the river for ten days—sparked my travel writing career. Since then, I’ve travelled to more than 40 countries, often in the search of wild animals, wild places and wild experiences.
After six years of freelance travel writing for Washington Post, National Post, San Diego Tribune, Brisbane Courier Mail and many others, and writing a bestselling wildlife viewing book Pelicans to Polar Bears, I joined a provincial tourism marketing organization in my home province of Manitoba for 15 years and ran my own public relations agency. Clients included Travel Manitoba, Tundra North Tours, Rowing the World, Tourism Winnipeg, Churchill Wild, Churchill Northern Studies Centre and Travel Lakeland.
Driven by a desire to create more travel content, I now primarily write for destination clients and Wild Trips Await, my own travel content site. I’ve also had images and stories published in the Globe & Mail, Ensemble Vacations Extraordinary Vacations, Travel Life and other outlets, and continue to rebuild my editorial relationships.
Please look around and if you like what you see, be in touch.
